Tuscan Inspired Villa Gallery Calabasas, California 2006:
Next door neighbors of John and Suzanna Melendez were impressed by what Landscape Designer Glen Hampton had created for them in both of their homes in "THE OAKS of CALABASAS". In 2006 they contracted with Glen Hampton garden designs to design the gardens for their new Tuscan Inspired Villa.
Landscape Designer Glen Hamptons' design for this new garden was influenced by the Tuscan Villa's architecture. A grand staircase framed by low stone garden walls and pilasters with planters, draws you into the front entry of the villa. The rear garden opens onto an arched veranda, framing the view of the swimming pool.
The rear garden is broken up into a series of outdoor living spaces. The swimming pool area is bordered by the living room terrace with fireplace on one side and the pool house/dining terrace on the other. A series of arbors are used as transitions from one space to the next. The rear arbor, located at the end of the pool, frames the rose garden entrance and fountain, as well as the spectacular mountain views beyond.
The plantings, while formal in design, consist of a simple plant palette using only shades of green and white. The gardens lighting was designed for entertaining large groups of guests, and to add drama to the nighttime garden setting.
This garden was installed by GC AquaScapes.
