Traditional Residence Gallery Pasadena, California 2002:
This traditional residence is located in an upscale neighborhood of older prestigious homes bordering the world famous Huntington Library. In 2002 Glen Hampton garden designs was contracted to revamp the existing gardens and swimming pool area. The clients, a professional couple, who traveled a great deal on business wanted their garden to be an elegant relaxing oasis from their busy schedules.
Landscape Designer Glen Hampton replaced an old worn driveway with a washed finished concrete circular entrance drive. The entry drive passes through a motor court, enclosed by a low wall and lamp pilasters constructed of Bouquet Canyon Stone. The formal entrance to the residence is framed by juniper spirals in classic planters.
The rear garden opens into a lushly planted courtyard leading to a dining terrace with outdoor kitchen and bar. Sweeping stone steps lead up to the newly remodeled guest house and swimming pool level. A 20 foot long water cascade is the focal point drawing you toward the secluded upper spa terrace at the rear of the garden.
The garden plantings were selected to provide an ever blooming colorful plant palette throughout the mild California seasons. Dramatic landscape lighting was designed for nighttime entertaining.
This garden remodel was installed by Arcadia Pools.
