John and Suzanna Melendez were so pleased with the first garden that Landscape Designer Glen Hampton created for them in 2004, that they contracted with Glen Hampton garden designs again in 2005. This time to develop the gardens for their new and larger home in "THE OAKS of CALABASAS". Landscape Designer Glen Hamptons' design for this new garden was influenced by the Spanish Villa's architecture. The entrance is framed by low garden walls, pilasters, and planters. Cantera Stone steps and paving draw you into the front entry of this Sanish Villa. Having experienced some great parties on the rear terrace of their previous home, the clients wanted to duplicate that space in their new home. A large entertainment terrace spans the entire length of the rear of the villa. A free standing structure is located at one end, to frame rather than obstruct the spectacular mountain views. The structure incorporates an outdoor living area, TV, cook-center, and bar. From the entertainment terrace/structure you transition into an outdoor living area featuring a fire pit for chilly evening entertainment. This living area is bordered by a fountain on one end and the swimming pool/spa on the other. The balance of the large rear garden is one big play yard, incorporating play equipment and a handball court for the client's daughters. A Mediterranean plant palette, of hot colors (reds, oranges, etc.) was selected in keeping with the California climate. Garden lighting was designed for entertaining large groups of guests, and to add drama to the nighttime garden setting. This garden was installed by GC AquaScapes. ![]() ALL CONTENT on this Site Copyright Protected ALL IMAGES on this Site Copyright Protected or images found on this site... THANK YOU.
