In the late 1990s a series of new communities were developed on the last remaining open lands that were once part of the seaside ocean front Irvine Ranch, in Orange County. One of the smaller developments, done in the style of a Mediterranean village, was nestled into a canyon. The gated entrance to the development was centered on a single street, lined with single family homes, and ending in cul-de-sacs at both ends. Glen Hampton garden designs was contracted by a single young professional man to help create a garden, were he could entertain friends and colleagues. The garden, while bounded by the preserved canyon slope to the rear, was fully exposed to the neighbors on both sides. The fact that the garden was only seventeen feet deep in places also presented a challenge. Landscape Designer Glen Hampton chose to create a series of outdoor living spaces consisting of a covered dining patio; living room with fireplace; a bar/cooking entertainment center; and sun bathing terrace connected by a wall water feature. The privacy issue was solved by constructing raised planters on both ends of the garden and filling them with Mediterranean screen plantings. Night time entertaining was enhanced through the design of dramatic landscape lighting effects. ![]() ALL CONTENT on this Site Copyright Protected ALL IMAGES on this Site Copyright Protected or images found on this site...
