Landscape Designer Bio

Landscape Designer Glen Hampton has created numerous commercial and residential gardens for many satisfied Clients in the Three Decades spanning his career. But Glen prefers the challenges and rewards of Collaborating with his Residential Clients, to create Gardens and Outdoor Living Spaces that are both aesthetically pleasing to the eye and functional for the individual needs of each of his Unique Clients’ Lifestyles.

Born and raised in the magical and radiant Light of Southern California Glen was drawn to design and art at an earlier age. An abundance of Eclectic Architectural Styles were created in the Los Angeles Area during the late Nineteenth and early Twentieth Centuries. Everything from Classic to English to Mediterranean to Contemporary Design Styles were laid out across Los Angeles and the surrounding areas.

As a child, heading down any street Glen could absorb a vast number of architectural design styles for his natural architect/designer's eye to take in and store for future reference. Styles that would influence his garden designs throughout his career.

Picking up a drawing instrument at an early age Glen's passion for all things relating to architecture and gardens was set in motion. He originally studied Architecture throughout high school, and was on the career path to becoming an Architect... Until he completed his AA Degree in Horticulture and went on to attend Cal Poly in Pomona, California in 1967.

At that time the now Famous School of Landscape Architecture at Cal Poly was a simple courtyard made up of four classrooms (Freshman; Sophomore; Junior; and Senior). The "Boltz Courtyard" was named after the man who had the vision to start the School of Landscape Architecture. In fact in those days the school was so new that Landscape Architecture was not a Major, but an option under the Major of Agriculture.

It was because of the Landscape Architecture School's humble beginnings that Glen was able to study design under such architectural giants as Richard Neutra with guest lectures by contemporary pioneer Landscape Architect Garrett Eckbo. Their influence and guidance provided Glen with the ability to recognize that the Architecture and Landscape of a site were As One.

In the summer of 1969 the school offered a European Summer Study program. Experiencing the historic architectural wonders and gardens of England, France, Spain, Italy and Greece would forever have an impact on how Glen's Landscape Design Philosophy would evolve.

After graduating with a Bachelor Science Degree, Glen was fortunate enough to work for several prominent Southern California Landscape Architectural firms. In 1976 he received his Landscape Architect Certificate from the State Of California.

Glen's educational and professional training along with his Thirty-plus years of experience helped him to develop his Own Personal Landscape Designs Philosophy... "Each garden Must be true to its site, while complimenting its architectural surroundings; And aesthetically pleasing, while serving each individual Client's Unique Lifestyle".

In 1976 Glen Hampton opened his own landscape designs practice based on his Personal Landscape Designs Philosophy and still applies it to each Individual Client's Garden. By Design each Garden is different and Unique... And the reason Glen Hampton can proudly proclaim that he is "NOT A Signature Designer".

Glen combines his Thirty-plus Years of Experience and his Passion for garden design with his Clients’ Desires. Thus enabling Glen to Create Truly Unique Garden Settings for each of his Wonderful Client’s Enjoyment and Pleasure.
