Cottage Garden Pasadena, California 1998:
This Cottage was designed by the prestigious architectural firm of Marston-Van Pelt and Maybury in the 1920’s. At that time it was landscaped by the famous landscape design team of Florence Yoch and Lucile Council.
Our Client, an architect and avid gardener, purchased the cottage in the 1990’s and set about restoring the rear garden from photos he had collected on the Yoch/Council original design.
Since no information was available on the front garden, Glen Hampton garden designs was contracted to design the new front garden in collaboration with the architect owner.
The result is an English Style Cottage Garden with a Croquet Lawn as the main focal point. The client actually had an old fashioned Croquet party to inaugurate the new front garden… Everyone came dressed in their summer whites.
